WELCOME!
Thank you for visiting, we're glad you're here! There are few things in life that we can help to prevent and losing a house to a wildfire is one of them. We may not be able to stop wildland fires from occurring, but we can make a difference in whether or not our homes will survive a wildland fire. It is unreasonable to expect others to risk their lives trying to protect our property if we have done nothing to make it safer for them to do so... And, we are here to help! Together we can make a difference!
Preparation must begin long before smoke appears on the horizon.

MARIPOSA COUNTY FIRE SAFE COUNCIL is a non-profit, non-governmental, non-regulatory community partnership of residents, property owners, businesses and agencies           working together to reduce our vulnerability to the threat of wildland fire.               THE MISSION OF THE MARIPOSA FIRE SAFE COUNCIL IS TO PRESERVE MARIPOSA COUNTY'S NATURAL AND MANMADE RESOURCES BY MOBILIZING ALL MARIPOSANS TO MAKE THEIR HOMES, NEIGHBORHOODS AND COMMUNITIES FIRE SAFE.

Please explore our site and check back often as we add and update important resources. Join our email list to receive Fire Safe Alerts and Information as it becomes available.

* UPDATE ON LUSHMEADOWS FUEL BREAK PHASE 1 *
Lushmeadows Fuel break has been funded and is currently being surveyed by a Forester for environmental concerns. You may notice pink ribbon that says Timber Harvest Boundary; this is marking the centerline of a 300 foot wide fuel break and there is not a timber harvest. This is going to be a shaded fuel break which means that all trees larger than 6 inches in diameter are not cut. The remaining trees shade out brush which requires lots of sun. Now if you live up in the Subdivision along Clouds Rest Road, Illouette Falls Road, or Half Dome road, the work is going to be done by hand and will either be burned in small piles or chipped. On our website are pictures of a similar fuel break that is being constructed on Stumpfield Road. Permission letters have been sent out to all of the people that are affected. There is no cost to landowners and past projects have increased property values. If you have questions please call us.
